The Life Saving Ultrasound Project

The Heartbeat Law is saving babies' lives in record numbers.

Beginning on September 1, the day the Heartbeat law went into effect, Texas Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRC) saw an immediate increase in the number of girls and women in early pregnancy considering their "options." Clients have increased by more than 50% in almost all PRCS across Texas. Some have even reported a higher increase.

True to form, PACs quickly adjusted the counseling to the heartbeat at 6 weeks. (Previously, PRCS advised expecting mothers to take their time.) At 6 weeks, there was no rush to make a decision, but that has changed. Clients are encouraged to base their decision on the ultrasound, which necessitates the use of an ultrasound in every center to demonstrate that the baby has a beating heart 21 days after conception.

Where does The Heldi Group (THG) come in?

THG staff has researched and found that many of the cities with the largest populations unserved by PRC's are in central Texas—our backyard. In cooperation with willing PRCS and alone, THG is in the process of branching out and starting PRCS to cover unserved counties.

The normal expectation for the length of time to found and bring a center to the point of serving clients is two years. Girls and women are in need right now. THG founded one PRC that started serving clients in two and a half months. We must do it again and again. We must strive to reach girls and women in that moment of crisis when they learn they are pregnant.

The Process Steps are as follows:

  • Contact local churches to identify members who are interested in a PRC missionary outreach.
  • Awareness Programs in local newspapers and radio stations announcing a public meeting to form a Pregnancy Resource Committee.
  • The Committee develops a strategic plan and budget outlining the steps necessary to open the PRC. (THG makes it easier.)
  • Committee members assume responsibility for site selection and funding.
  • For immediate and monthly funding, the fundraising committee may hold a local event such as a banquet.
  • For immediate and monthly funding, the fundraising committee may hold a local event such as a banquet.
  • Committee members call on individuals to encourage financial investments in the life-saving project
  • Sign the lease or rental contract. Make signs announcing free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds.
  • Local volunteers will be trained as missionaries in the field of unplanned pregnancy.
  • The Heidi Group solicits the donation of a quality ultrasound machine.
  • PRC personnel and ultrasound nurses must be trained.
  • Open Center. Provide free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and counseling to girls and women.
  • The Committee will continue to advertise until the community is aware of the formation of the PRC Permanent Board.

The project appears simple, but due to the time-sensitive issue of pregnancy, it is urgent. Women and girls do not all become pregnant at the same time. It is critical that each community has signage directing expectant mothers to the PRC at the point of need—the crisis. When she suspects she is pregnant, she needs to know a safe place to go, preferably one that is close by, where she will be loved, cared for, and told the truth, rather than the abortion industry, where she will be told lies.

Why aren't abortion clinics closing down? I can only imagine the lies the girls and women are hearing, but it is our responsibility as pro-lifers and Christians to reach out to girls and women in crisis with the truth and help. PRCS accomplishes this.

Unplanned pregnancies, in my opinion, are the most important mission field in this state and country. PRCS tells her the truth about her pregnancy and shares the plan of salvation in both word and deed. While many expectant mothers have been hurt, it takes time to build trust, but local missionaries will be there for her for as long as she needs and beyond. Repeatedly sharing love and the Gospel.

THG's Phase One initiative is to establish and open 12 new Pregnancy Resource Centers in Central Texas over the next year. That equates to 12 ultrasounds. Some ministries provide ultrasounds, but THG staff has yet to find one that provides ultrasounds for new PRCS patients.

12 Ultrasounds at a cost of $36,550 for a total cost of $438,600 for the 12 new Pregnancy Resource Centers.

No one can quantify the value of a single life. It is estimated that between 100 and 130 babies' lives will be saved DAILY in the coming year and beyond. Please assist The Heidi Group in assisting local missionaries in saving the physical lives of babies and the eternal lives of mothers.

We serve a powerful God, and now is the time to act to save the lives of babies and their mothers.
